Reliable Food Supply
A little education and a few resources go a long way in providing food security for farmers in Kenya. Simple things like proper planting techniques, using seeds adapted for the area, poultry vaccinations, fruit tree management and more can make a world of difference in the income that a farmer can generate. In just a short amount of time we have been able to reach over 83,000 farmers and distribute over 5 million effective technologies.
Sustainability
Having started in Eastern Kenya 8 years ago, we are now expanding into Western Kenya, reaching even more people. However, the desire is for the farmers involved in the initial program to maintain their ability to spread knowledge, provide for their families, generate income, and improve their health and local economies. While we no longer support them financially we are invested in their success and continue to monitor and assist as needed.
Methodology
The success of the program has proven itself, and we want to see as many people as possible benefit from these development methods. We are working to increase capacity in other areas around the world, starting with a pilot program in Uganda, which currently has 1,000 families involved!
